Normally we don’t concoct unusual endings for our songs. But for “Mid-flight”, we did anyway. It’s funny because we never really made a conscious decision to do it. It just came to us when we did our final band rehearsal a day before PNB version 5. This only proves that there’s more to full band jamming than just perfecting a song’s rhythm, feel and over-all delivery. Doing time in the studio also breeds creative spontaneity, which in our case, worked really well in crafting a rather atypical finale for the song.

Once again, we found ourselves inside the four walls of Handuraw’s jamming studio last Tuesday night as we tried to give the song “Mid-flight” the full band treatment (the first of many jamming sessions—I predict!).
As I’ve said in the previous entry (see below), this song is going to need a lot of work given its […]

I got mugged the other day.
The jerk took my wallet, my Bic ballpen and my blog entry.
So now I’m writing a new one.
But who am I kidding? Nobody really believes this story (I can just picture YanYan raising an eyebrow, Makoy suppressing his classic “ahhhh t*ya!”, and Tessa emitting a faultlessly delivered, perfectly pitched “aaaaaaahh”). […]

12 April
It’s Tuesday night and Tessa, Roy, Arceline, Jayson, and Guile are hanging out in the living room of Mark’s and YanYan’s condo, otherwise known as the band headquarters.
Having gone straight to rehearsal after toiling in their day jobs, everyone is feeling giddy and a little weary at the same time.
Guile quietly walks to the […]

We finally completed a demo version of “Oblivion”, which we recorded at Zzubu studios earlier this week.
I’ll leave the details to Guile, who (I’m sure) is itching to write a more comprehensive entry.
As Guile would say, “no pressure, no pressure…”
Thanks,
Makoy

Long weekend. But, damn, was it fun…
First, I’m happy to announce that we have found us the perfect place for our band rehearsals. We can now play great music to our hearts’ content. Yep, the Manto household has agreed to let us use a vacant space in their home in Banilad. It’s no Handuraw Studio, […]

Mark has always wanted to give the song “Plot of My Revenge” a hard rocking treatment but for some time, we haven’t been able to find the perfect mix of chord progressions, guitar riffs and vocal melodies. So one weekend, Mark, Jayson, Tessa and I decided to sit down and get right on it or […]
