Hastang of Yesteryears

This is part 5 of an 11-part series. Guile takes a whimsical journey down memory lane, retracing the bumpy pseudo-pathways that led to the final version of Hastang’s current tracks.

• Gaw actually did some blues licks on the verse parts but ultimately, we decided to take them out to give more focus to the vocals.
• Originally, I wanted piano tracks in the bridge but we couldn’t book a keyboardist. Heck, I wanted Gregorian chanting on the intro but we couldn’t book a choir. Just kidding on that last one.
• The beautiful words were written by our good friend, the virginal Genee Lou Nuñez. To quote her sister Mariter, “Guileless is Genee’s masturbation song.” With these snippets in mind, you wouldn’t be too surprised to learn that the original title of the song was “A Virgin’s Orgasm.”
• Why its current title? Hmm. This might prove enlightening.
