Most Memorable Hastang Blog Entries

Yan | 20 September 2007 | Groupie-isms | 441 views | One Comment

Guile seems too lazy to update this blog, so I’ve taken it upon myself to look for ways to update this. (No, Guile, you can not bully me into retracting this statement - here or elsewhere.)

Since we moved from blogdrive to this self-hosted blog, we’ve had a grand total of 11 posts! *clap, clap*

But just to let you know that there was a time when Guile (and, well, the rest of Hastang) actually took pride in blogging, here’s a list of memorable blog entries dating back to 2005. Enjoy!

  • Reincarnation
Transition from Squirrel Talk to Hastang.
  • Uncovering the Plot
Learn the dynamics of arranging a new song - the Hastang way.
  • Of Survivors, Old Allies, and the Dream that Refuses to Die
This was where it all began. ;) (Definitely a must-read for all new fans.)

  • Long weekend
A day in the life of a struggling musician. (sort of)
  • No longer a ghost of my waking…
Tessa chronicles her journey from the corporate world to the world of Hastang. Incidentally, the title of this post is the title of one of Hastang’s first original songs.
  • Anticipation
Long years as a musician notwithstanding, Guile feels the jitters of performing with a new band for the first time on stage.
  • The Aftermath
Hastang’s first gig! Gosh, it seems like yesterday. I can still see Tessa snapping her fingers, much to Roy’s consternation. (We miss you so much, Tess. Can’t wait for you to come home. Don’t forget our pasalubong, ha?)
  • Hastang Kuyawa
Tessa really is gorgeous, isn’t she? And my, she looks good with Gabo, too.
  • The Making of Oblivion
*sniff* The memories. I miss our songwriting sessions. Second album, anyone?
  • Alleged Muggings, Lame Excuses, and Brief Updates
Guile attempts to justify his lack of substantial blog entries.
  • Tuesdays with Murray
Nope, that’s not a typo. Murray is…well, uhm…Murray is…God, how does one describe Murray? Perhaps this blog post can shed some light on “the unbearable lightness of being Murray.”
  • Refueling Mid-flight
Mid-flight started out with (as my sister puts it) a superhero-ish melody that evolved into one of the most sublime hard-rockin’ arrangements of all time. Whew! Ahh, I remember the chaos that went on in the studio while Hastang was developing this song (fist fights were involved, I heard). But this post is not about that. (Or is it?)
  • Going through changes…again
Guile compares Hastang to an M. Night Shyamalan movie.
  • No Doubt
Makoy gets excited about the prospect of recording. Makoy jumps up and down. Makoy does a Gwen Steffani. Or something like that.
  • A Love Letter (sort of)
Guile (sort of) flirts with Ela (ella, ella, ella…el…).
  • A ‘Random’ Night
Makoy accidentally discovers that ‘Random’ has risen to number 4 in the Killer Bee countdown. Makoy raves. Makoy eats. Or something like that.
  • Dear Diary
Ahhh, Bohol. The beach. The beer. The fun. The laughter. The wayward pubes on our bed. Hmmm. …Oh, wait. I think there’s something in there somewhere about wrapping up the recording for the first album, too. Hmmm.
  • Hair They Come
An interesting take on guitarist Raul “Gaw” Luche and ex-guitarist Roy Tutor.
  • 10 things I like about being in a band
Here’s a number 11: “Being introduced to my angel by a groupie.” Right, Guile?
  • It’s Good to be Here
Guile talks about Hastang’s hilarious interview at Y101 (the Rhythm of the City). Oh, how I remember that interesting interview - Tessa all flushed, Gaw craving for beer at 2 in the afternoon, Makoy polluting the air waves with his guffaws, and Guile doing all the talking (as usual). Incidentally, DJ Roy replayed that interview a couple of weeks after. Apparently, some fans requested for an encore.
  • Lights, camera…
Guile chronicles Hastang’s Oblivion music video shoot and first Manila tour. What he failed to mention, however, was the number of hapless females who literally jumped him in 6UG. Wonder why he left that out. hmmm.

  1. I just finished migrating 2 years worth of comments from your blog. whew! what a grueling task. where do I send my bill again?

Reading through the comments thread of the old blog made me realize a few things:

    • Tessa is (and always will be) the queen of porn, este, corn;
    • Makoy is the master of all bugal-bugal;
    • Hastang’s guitarists (past and present) always take the fifth; and
    • Guile is a big flirt.

    tsk, tsk.
